The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has strongly condemned the tragic killing of Assistant Superintendent Aminu Salisu. The incident occurred on January 17, 2025, during a legitimate operation in Awka, Anambra State.

According to the commission’s spokesman Dele Oyewale, Salisu and his team were conducting a raid at Dr J.O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka. The operation targeted a two-storey building believed to house 37 suspected internet fraudsters. While the operation began without issues, it escalated due to resistance from a suspect.
Commission Blames Suspect for Escalating the Incident
Oyewale explained that suspect Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, alerted by CCTV surveillance, refused entry to the EFCC investigators. Despite polite requests, Ikechukwu allegedly resorted to violence, shooting Salisu and injuring another officer.
