Jigawa State‘s wedding turned tragic after the bride allegedly poisoned food served at the reception. The incident reportedly left the groom critically ill and caused the death of one guest.
Jigawa Police Confirm Incident and Launch Investigation
The incident, which occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area, has been confirmed by the Jigawa Police. State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, stated that an investigation is underway to uncover the facts.
“We received a report that the bride tainted the food served at the wedding, leaving the groom critically ill,” Adam said.
Arrests Made in Connection with the Jigawa Wedding Poisoning
Two suspects, including the bride and another female, have been arrested by the police. Both are being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The police assured the public that efforts are being made to ensure justice is served. “We will do everything within our power to guarantee justice,” Adam added.
Victims of Food Poisoning Receive Medical Attention
According to police reports, all the affected wedding guests, except one, have been discharged from the hospital. Tragically, one guest was confirmed dead.
The police spokesperson also noted, “The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be provided as soon as possible.”

Authorities in Jigawa State have called for calm as they work to resolve the case. “We urge the public to remain assured that justice will prevail,” Adam stated.
