PDP: Tinubu's New Year Speech Reflects Gloom

PDP has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2025 New Year address, describing it as a “signpost of gloom.” According to People’s Democratic Party, the speech further confirmed the lack of hope under Tinubu’s administration.

PDP: Tinubu’s Speech Shows Disconnection from Citizens

In a statement by People’s Democratic Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party labelled the address as “self-satisfying posturing.” PDP stated that it highlights the Tinubu-led APC administration’s detachment from the struggles of Nigerians. The party attributed this disconnection to ill-implemented policies and resource mismanagement.

PDP: No Solutions for Nigerians’ Problems

People’s Democratic Party expressed disappointment that despite repeated calls, Tinubu’s speech lacked a clear direction for the nation. “President Tinubu’s speech again underlines APC’s insensitivity to the anguish of Nigerians,” PDP remarked. The party criticized the absence of actionable plans to reduce petroleum prices or combat widespread hunger.

Speech Ignores Critical National Sectors

According to People’s Democratic Party, the speech failed to address solutions for critical sectors such as electricity, oil and gas, and infrastructure. PDP also noted the lack of any strategic plan to combat unemployment through investments in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises.

Tinubu’s Claims Lack Credibility

People’s Democratic Party dismissed Tinubu’s claim of having Nigerians’ confidence as “ludicrous.” The party stressed that Nigerians have lost faith in the administration and eagerly await the next elections. “The APC administration lacks the competence and skills to manage the nation’s resources effectively,” PDP added.

A Call for Tinubu to Listen to Nigerians

The People’s Democratic Party advised Tinubu to prioritize governance and listen to Nigerians’ concerns. “Our party counsels President Tinubu to redeem his image by ending the insensitivity of his administration,” PDP stated.

This critique reinforces People’s Democratic Party’s stance that Tinubu’s New Year speech lacked substance and solutions, leaving Nigerians disappointed.
