Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after participating in the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. His return was confirmed on Friday through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha.

At a forum titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and WEF, Shettima stressed Nigeria’s readiness to attract capital for sustainable economic growth. His remarks highlighted the nation’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
Shettima Reaffirms Commitment to AfCFTA and Digital Trade
Shettima underscored Nigeria’s dedication to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He also highlighted the potential of leveraging digital trade to transform African economies. The Vice President projected a vision for Africa to achieve a $29 trillion economy by 2050.
Bilateral Meetings with Global Leaders
Vice President Shettima held bilateral talks with prominent global leaders, including Botswana’s President Duma Boko and South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa. The discussions focused on strengthening intra-African relations, enhancing partnerships, and promoting trade and development.

Shettima also engaged with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the President of the World Economic Forum, Børge Brende.
